The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the mainly climate variables and the viticultural behavior of the grapevines (Vitisvinifera L.), varieties Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, in Campo Belo do Sul (950 meters a.s.l) and Sao Joaquim (1400 meters a.s.l) during the 2013/2014 season. The weather data was collected and analyzed from automatic meteorological station from Epagri/CIRAM. Phenology, total soluble solids content (TSS), pH, titratable acidity (TA), levels of total monomeric anthocyanins (TMA), total polyphenols (TP) and production indices were evaluated. Average temperatures in maturation (18.9 oC) and global radiation (807, 6 W m-2) were superior in Campo Belo do Sul. For both altitudes the thermal amplitude was similar with a value of 10° C. Based on the bioclimatic indices of Winkler and Huglins, São Joaquim was classified as region I and Campo Belo do Sul as region III. In São Joaquim the phenological cycle of the varieties was longer and later. São Joaquim showed higher concentrations of TA (128 meq L-1), TMA (2527.8 mg L-1 malvidin 3 - glucoside) for Merlot and TP (2518.8 mg L-1 ác.gálico) for Cabernet Sauvignon. Both varieties grown in Campo Belo do Sul, presented the highest yields. |
